Peacock just dropped the cast for The Traitors season 3, and the internet has already picked sides.
The reality competition's whole gimmick — a handful of secret Traitors hunting Faithfuls in a Scottish castle — worked so well twice that the streamer went and stuffed the new roster with even more chaos agents.
The headline addition is without question Tom Sandoval, who is reportedly still apologizing to America for Scandoval.
Putting a man famous for betraying his girlfriend in a show literally built around betrayal is either genius casting or a war crime, and honestly, both readings are valid.
He's not alone in the messy-icon department.
Chrishell Stause, Dorinda Medley, and Robyn Dixon are all checking in, which means the castle now contains at least three women who have never once lost an argument on camera.
Dorinda alone could dismantle a roundtable with a single "clip." Production better have extra mics.
Boston Rob Mariano and Derrick Levasseur bring genuine strategic menace, while Bob the Drag Queen and Wells Adams add the kind of social game that tends to survive longer than anyone predicts.
Gabby Windey and Ciara Miller round out a cast that's less "reality all-stars" and more "reality powder keg." What makes this season especially juicy is the format's track record.
Season 1 crowned Cirie Fields after she played one of the most ruthless finales in reality TV history, and season 2 gave us CT Tamburello and Trishelle Cannatella splitting the prize while Phaedra Parks turned the turret into appointment television.
The bar for backstabbing is now absurdly high.
The wild card is the new batch of gamers versus the Bravo contingent.
Historically, the gamers eat the reality stars alive in the early rounds — they clock behavioral tells faster and lie with straighter faces.
But Bravo stars are professional grudge-holders.
If the two factions merge into alliances, the roundtables are going to get ugly in the best way.
Then there's the wildcard nobody's talking about enough: the faithful faithful.
Every season, one player coasts deep by being likable and slightly invisible, and this cast has several candidates.
Watch whoever gets the least screen time in episode one.
The Scottish castle, the cloaks, the Alan Cumming outfits — it's all coming back, and the premiere can't arrive soon enough.
If the trailers are any indication, someone is getting banished in tears before the first dinner is even cleared.
Our take: this is the best cast the show has assembled, mostly because it finally leans into the mess instead of pretending these people are here to play fair.
Sandoval versus Dorinda at a roundtable is the television event of the year, and we haven't even seen it yet.
Final Thoughts
If Peacock is smart, they'll release the unedited footage.
