High Potential Is the Show Everyone’s Binging RN — high…
Persona #2 · Vol: 500
OK so if you haven’t heard of *High Potential* yet, what rock have you been living under?? This show literally came out of nowhere and is now ALL over my FYP. It’s giving *Monk* meets *Sherlock* but make it a baddie mom who cleans crime scenes. Yes, you read that right. 💅🔍
So the tea: *High Potential* is an ABC drama based on a French show called *HPI*. It follows Morgan, a single mom of three with a literal genius-level IQ of 160, who works as a night janitor at the LAPD. One night she notices something off about a crime scene photo, casually solves a case the actual detectives couldn’t crack, and boom — she gets pulled into consulting for the major crimes unit. Iconic behavior honestly. She’s not a cop, she’s not a detective, she’s just a cleaning lady who’s smarter than everyone in the room and isn’t afraid to say it. The audacity. We love it. 😭
Kaitlin Olson plays Morgan and she is EATING this role up. If you know her from *It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia*, you already know she’s got that chaotic energy, but here she balances it with actual heart. The show mixes case-of-the-week detective work with her messy personal life — three kids, an ex, and this weird will-they-won’t-they tension with her partner Karadec. It’s bingeable in the worst way. I watched four episodes in one sitting and forgot to eat. No regrets. 🍿
And the numbers?? Not the show flopping, that’s for sure. *High Potential* premiered in September 2024 and pulled in like 3.6 million viewers on its debut, then kept climbing. By mid-season it was one of ABC’s biggest new hits, and it got renewed for a second season faster than you can say “procedural drama renaissance.” The internet is obsessed. TikTok edits, fan theories, people making “Morgan coded” playlists. It’s a whole thing. The girlies are tuned in. 📈
Why is it hitting so hard though? I think it’s because we’re in our detective-show era again. *Poker Face*, *Only Murders in the Building*, now *High Potential* — people want mysteries they can solve from their couch with a snack. Plus Morgan is just relatable. She’s brilliant but also a disaster. She’s juggling everything and still showing up. That’s the vibe for 2025 honestly. We’re all just trying to solve our own cases while our laundry piles up. 🧺✨
If you’re looking for something to fill the *Grey’s Anatomy* void or you just love a smart-mouthed protagonist who refuses to play by the rules, this is it. It’s on Hulu, it’s easy to watch, and it’s got that comfort-show energy with just enough edge. Do yourself a favor and start it this weekend. Your algorithm will thank you.
**My take:** *High Potential* isn’t rewriting the genre, but it doesn’t need to. It’s fun, it’s fast, and Kaitlin Olson is a national treasure. Sometimes you just want a show that lets a messy genius win. And honestly? Same.
